The blind heart does beat in the chest of the man
Who knows not his blessing and can’t understand.
The grace and the mercy throughout all his life,
From the hands with the scars, the hands of the Christ.
He takes all things for granted as if he were owed;
What a miserable journey on this dark lonely road.
Joy can’t be found, it’s chased off by greed;
Doesn’t see what he’s got, for more is always his need.
He doesn’t know pity, compassion or trust;
There’s no love in the heart that’s consumed with great lust.
But Jesus did heal the dark blind eyes of men,
Cured men of hate and He can do it again.
He takes the blind heart though it be like a stone,
And gives it the vision of thanks as He makes it just like His own.
Gratitude comes when we look beyond self
And see needs of others and put ours on the shelf.
The way that God did though He reigns high above,
He sent His own Son who did suffer in Love.
The hard heart is melted by the thought of it all,
And our worldly desires become less and grow small.
Without lust and greed our souls become free,
And our blind hearts have a vision of thanks as we see
Blessings uncountable as the stars up above
Given by God in His infinite Love.
And soon joy and peace overflow the grateful soul,
And the more our hearts look, the more blessing we behold.
You may not believe this; you may think it untrue,
But this heart was once mine, now could it by you?
Tertius
“One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
John 9:25
A note about “The Blind Heart”: Every year just before Thanksgiving the local paper invites readers to tell what they are thankful for. Every year I send in something. Excited to see this offer again a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving Day I asked the Lord for something fresh. The very next morning before I got out of bed it was given to me. How I pray that it gives gratitude to blind hearts everywhere. How simple the message, yet how powerful the Healer. Thank You once again, my wonderful Savior!
