ON HIS LOVE STAND

Oh, trust not men, do not depend.
Their house does surely rest on shifting sand at best.
You’ll be secure, on what is sure.
Take Jesus by His hand and on His sweet Love stand.

It stands the test of timeless quest.
Worth more than purest gold to hungry weary souls.
It’s surely starts within our hearts.
Receive His wondrous plan and on His sweet Love stand.

Stand on His promises, stand on His Word.
The story of His Love, the greatest Word I ever heard.
All worldly ways are quicksand, and we’ll sink just like a stone.
But I will stand on God’s sweet Love, His Love and that alone.

It stands against both wave and wind.
It stands and frees us from our sin.
It stands up to the powers of hell.
It stands that it’s my only wealth.
All worldly ways are quicksand, and we’ll sink just like a stone.
But I will stand on God’s sweet Love, His Love and that alone.

It stands to reason, that it’s the season.
To ring God’s Holy Bell and mortal men to tell,
Of His great Love came from above,
For every single man can on His sweet Love stand.

Stand on His promises, stand on His Word.
The story of His Love, the greatest Word I ever heard.
All worldly ways are quicksand, and we’ll sink just like a stone.
But I will stand on God’s sweet Love, His Love and that alone.
But I will stand on God’s sweet Love, His Love and that alone.

Tertius

For because of our faith,
he has brought us into this place of highest privilege
where we now stand,
and we confidently and joyfully look forward
to actually becoming all that God has had in mind for us to be.

Romans 5:2

A note about “On His Love Stand”: Preceding a lesson on the word stand and its relation to God and His Kingdom, I wrote this on a beautiful spring morning when the leaves on the trees had come out in full, but were still new enough where they had that lime green hue. I arrived at Ware Church midday after finishing another job to do a short repair job. There’s lots of trees and flowers in the church yard and cemetery and while eating my lunch I was humbled and amazed at the Artist’s masterpiece. What a sublime place to stand.
