Bless thee, Jesus, God’s chosen Light,
Only thy Love exceeds thy might.
By thou men given a second chance,
Thy grace and mercy, this life enhance.
Nail scarred hands bid us to come,
From sinful ways, we all are from.
He’s bought us robes of dazzling white,
The dawn breaks forth and ends the night.
Oh Jesus, Savior of my soul,
Thou warmed my heart, when it was cold.
Your Love gives man his every breath,
When all man’s due is surely death.
We sing thy praise in joyous song,
To see thy face, our hearts do long.
You Loved my frame when no one would,
Erased my shame and guilt for good.
I worship, praise you, night and day,
And give thanks to God, each time I pray.
Thou took thy cross, not shirking duty,
This tool of death became our beauty.
For a righteous soul, one just might die,
But the likes of me, I don’t know why.
My heart, my soul, my lips and hands,
They all do praise the Son of Man.
Oh come thou Jesus, come reign as King,
On earth as my heart, of your Love I sing.
The world will finally live in peace,
And war and hate will that day cease.
We pray and look unto the sky,
For His return it draws nigh,
Until that day His Spirit abides,
Deep in my heart He shines, not hides.
For all the world to see His Love,
Yes, I’m a beacon, lit from above.
Tertius
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14
NOTE: It would seem logical that a magnificent sunrise would inspire “Sonburst” or “Suitable for Framing” but this should prove that the Holy Spirit is the true inspiration, creative force, actual author or, however you would like to put it, of what I write. The first two lines came to me when I went to my bathroom in the middle of the night. I didn’t turn the light on so my thought process was not governed by circumstance. I went back to my bedroom and finished writing it in an hour. There have been quite a few others written exactly that same way.
