Reading a book written by David Jeremiah, I came across this phrase and it seemed to jump off the page and become imbedded in my mind: “So much of what Jesus taught (and still teaches) deals with the futility of worldly wealth, whether money, power, physical beauty or any obsession that replaces the place in our lives where God should be.” The Bible says that the days of man are but smoke, and we all know that eternity is beyond time. We were born with the concept of time; it’s not something we had to learn, so this should be a no-brainer, right? Satan’s message to the world: tomorrow does not know. I want it now! What an expensive line of thought. It has been the ruin of countless individuals and even threatens to bring this great nation to its knees. Jesus said, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul.” This is contrary to the assault we receive from mass media every day. This teaching of Jesus must be cultivated within us; planted in deep furrows in our hearts and minds, weeded and watered daily and nourished with fertilizer of faith, love and gratefulness. At our meeting on December 7th, we will attempt to look beyond our nose and look at some long-term investment strategies. I do not lead these meetings, I simply host them. We strive to let the Spirit of God teach through His Word and your willingness to share the knowledge you have received from Him, along with an open heart and mind, for us all to get what we came for. I’m looking for a closer walk with Jesus.
