Dearest Lord Jesus, teach me to pray,
As you so desire, I gladly obey.
I can’t comprehend why you’d listen to me,
But you said you would, so down on my knees.
I thank you, I love you, is more to be said?
I petition for others, by you I am led.
Blessings are many, but troubles are too,
I can’t raise my head until I am through.
You walk with me daily and guide me at night,
The darkness is vanquished; your Word is the Light.
What can we say, to Him who knows all?
Our thoughts, our emotions, our rise and our fall,
Father forgive me, from my wretched heart,
Your Son He did die, to give me a fresh start.
I take this sweet gift, the ultimate Love,
From Jesus my Savior, who came down from above.
You always listen, whenever I pray,
To all of my words whatever I say.
I thank you, I love you, you’ve ransomed my soul,
For prayers to reach you is worth more than gold.
Tertius
Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find,
knock and the door will be opened to you.
Luke 11:9
A note about “The Privilege Sublime”: It’s hard to fathom that God would listen, but greater than this is that He should care. If His Word did not assure me of this I would not believe it for a minute. But it does!
