My Anchor

Jesus, anchor for my soul,
Hold me fast when seas doth roll.
Wind and wave from tempest seas,
Keep me safe, oh Prince of Peace.
Though storms may dare to run us aground,
Oh Savior keep me safe and sound.
The Anchor holds the bottom firm,
It will not fail this much I’ve learned.
To love and trust Him with all our might,
Will give us peace through stormy night.
Though men may fail us and ships will sink,
Our God He holds, trust every link.
What a Savior, what a friend,
He will hold, till storm’s glad end.
And when it’s over and all is calm,
The sun comes up, a lovely dawn.
We’ll thank Him, praise Him, our God above,
Who anchors my soul by His sweet Love.

Tertius

What kind of a man is this?
Even the wind and waves obey Him!
Matthew 8:27

A note about “My Anchor”: Written the night I discovered an anchor tattooed on the back of my youngest daughters back. She thought she had it hidden from my view. Later I asked her to finish the job and have the poem inked underneath the anchor, she declined.
