Wisdom calls out, to all who will hear,
Who love the truth, and unto God fear.
Schools and diplomas can teach worldly gain,
But knowledge of God is how we must train.
What profits a man to gain the whole world,
When wisdom is greater than diamonds or pearls?
The wise one will listen to careful rebuke,
But keeps their words meager, sometime they are mute.
Silence is golden; we know this is true,
Words spoke in haste, makes a fool out of you.
Unrestrained anger can kill and can maim,
It tears apart homes and brings hurt and shame.
Solomon’s wisdom was thought to be best,
But One wiser than him whose wisdom will bless
Us with His knowledge from before time.
Whose brightness shines greater than purest sunshine,
The words of Sweet Jesus sweeter than honey,
Nothing comes close with all the world’s money.
True wisdom belongs to those who Him seek,
Who trust Him with their souls to guard and to keep.
The devil he claims to have a wise plan,
He pushes this lie to every man.
“You are smarter,” he says with sly grin,
“Than anyone else, trust me now friend.
I know more than God, His ways are outdated,
His ways are a bore and by most they are hated.”
Heed not to Satan, he’s all a big lie,
He wants to mislead you till the day that you die.
Now Jesus has made us and He oughta know,
All knowledge is His and from Him it does flow.
It’s there for the asking, one simply need pray,
And trust Him to meet our need every day.
Trust Him and love Him, there’s no higher thought.
For riches like this can never be bought.
Jesus, sweet Jesus, redeemer of souls,
The knowledge of His love worth more than gold.
Tertius
You’re blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom,
when you make friends with Madame Insight.
She’s worth far more than money in the bank;
her friendship is better than a big salary.
Her value exceeds all the trappings of wealth;
nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her.
With one hand she gives long life, with the other she confers recognition.
Her manner is beautiful, her life wonderfully complete.
She’s the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her.
Hold her tight—and be blessed!
Proverbs 3:13-18, The Message
A note about “Lady in White”: I would think this one would prove that I do very little thinking while writing these. I’ve said time and again, it’s more like taking dictation. I wrote this one in the “Bounce House” in Williamsburg while taking the kids on a field trip. Yep, wrote the whole thing in a big room with two hundred kids bouncing off the walls. Normally I couldn’t give my name, rank and serial number in that situation.
