WHITE FLAG

Here’s my heart, sweet Lord Jesus, surrendered to you,
But my needy neighbor, dear Lord, my charity’s through.
I’ve gave love and money, from my back gave my shirt,
I’ve done like you said, I’ve give till it hurt.
But enough ain’t enough to those who still plead,
Yes, a friend that’s in need is a friend, yes indeed.
They say hell has a hunger for the souls of lost men,
And the needy with needs, just like hell never ends.
I give you my all, Lord, on that I give you my word,
But the cry from my brothers, it’s gotten absurd.
I know you understand, Lord, these words that I pray,
When I rested from my whining, this is what He did say.
“What shall you give me, for I own everything?
Your moaning and groaning, is that what you bring?
I’ve blessed you with everything, blessed you with all,
But your ear’s deaf to others, whenever they call.
When you give to the least, who can’t pay you back,
You give unto me, and you know I keep track.
Ledgers in heaven record each drop of water
That you give a mere child, someone’s son or their daughter.
Your giving’s my Light that shines to the world,
The flag of my Love fully unfurled.
Greed is the bait Satan uses so well,
He’s trapped many a soul on the hard road to hell.
What will you do with all the extra you have,
Save it like medicine like some sort of salve?
Manna’s only good for one day at a time,
Darkness is coming better let your light shine.
So, give as you’ve been given, I gave you my all,
My open hand received nails when for mercy you called.
It’s much better to give, than to receive,
Do my words fall on deaf ears or do you hear and believe?”

Oh, Jesus my shame makes my head to hang low,
Your Words hurt my heart the deepest part you well know.
Nothing is mine; I should know this by now,
But to hold or to give is the manner of how.
I reveal my meager love for the Redeemer of men,
To share not what you’re given, is against you a sin.
How can I refuse Him, who died for my need?
And just like my Savior be willing to bleed.
For those who would ask just like me when I pray,
If I would refuse them, what do you think God will say?

Tertius

Give to the one who asks you,
and do not turn away from the one
who wants to borrow from you.

Matthew 5:42

A note about, “White Flag”: It is somewhat easy to surrender our lives to Jesus. After all He is the Creator of the universe and we are but a flea, (I Samuel 26:20). But to surrender to another human is something much more difficult. Especially if that person is causing us grief. But we must remember that the Creator of the universe bent down and washed Judas’ feet just a few minutes before Judas betrayed Him, knowing full well Judas would do this. He also called us to do the same. The Judas in your life; would you wash between his toes, clean under the nails and maybe put some lotion on those dry spots? Or would you drag a rag across them quick? See Colossians 3:23-24 for the right answer!
