20/20 Hindsight

The B.C. Scriptures pointed directly straight to Him,
Who did no wrong His whole life long, He never knew a sin.
The Book of Law, the Psalms, the words of all the prophets,
The mystery’s hid within, but God’s Spirit He unlocks it.
Thousands of long years before His descent down to the earth,
God’s Word it told the circumstances of His human birth.
Small details revealed with ink on flimsy paper pages,
Amazing that mere paper survived the fire of ages.
The King who’d lead God’s chosen ones,
The Branch, the Root of Jesse’s Son,
Was promised from so long ago,
This coming that only God would know.
The future is as near to God as the distant past,
The first day is as clear to Him as the very last.
Who would know the Son any better than the Father?
But some think that the letter He wrote is simply just a bother.
He wrote it for the benefit of those who seek His Son,
The wise men knew that it was true and they did gaze upon.
The Creator of the universe disguised as infant child,
Who’d have thought that God would come so very meek and mild?
And be born to die, I do not lie, for the sins of every man,
But the only ones who receive forgiveness are those who believe in God’s great plan.
His blueprint from the beginning before He made the earth,
He planned this sinner’s redemption by this Holy birth.
And wrote it down within His Book so we would know which One,
Of all the babies born through time, which one would be His Son.
The facts align within His Word that Jesus is the King,
The truth of the Old Testament and the prophecy it brings.
It could not be another man it describes Him to a tee,
So open up this manuscript and surely you will see.
That Jesus is Messiah, the Son of God, the Christ,
And through the page of ancient age His promise is our life.

Tertius

Philip found Nathanael and told him,
“We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,
and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth,
the son of Joseph.”
John 1:45

A note about “20/20 Hindsight”: There is said to be 300 references to Jesus in the Old Testament. I’m not enough of a Bible scholar to verify that and a few I know are a bit vague, but some of them are incredible in being so precise in description and the fact that they were written many hundreds of years (sometimes thousands) before He descended down to earth. What an astounding confirmation of whom He is. His miracles confirmed who He was, as did His Resurrection, but we were not there to witness that. But the Old Testament is a document that came from God through the Hebrews who have (generally speaking) yet to embrace Jesus as the Messiah. An impartial judge if you will. How anyone can read Isaiah 52:13 through 53:12 and still doesn’t get it is beyond me. This says more of His purpose in coming than all four Gospels. If someone were to take my Bible and only leave me one chapter, that would have to be the one.
