Do angels have wings? The Bible doesn’t say,
many times they’re written about in many different ways.
We’ve all seen pictures, statues, with wings upon their backs,
but can we say for sure, is it myth or fact
Messengers of God, we’ve read that they can fly, (Revelation 14:6)
ascended up in fire in front of Manoah’s eye. (Judges 13:20)
An animal might see them, although we may not, (Numbers 22:23, 31)
they destroyed the town of Sodom, but saved good old Lot. (Genesis 19:15)
They told the lowly shepherds of Jesus’ Holy birth, (Luke 2:8-9)
they’ll pour the wrath of God upon this evil earth. (Revelation 16:1)
Thousands upon thousands their numbers without end, (Revelation 5:11)
to those who love Jesus, their protector and their friend. (Acts 12:7)
You might have even met one not knowing who it was, (Hebrews 13:2)
if so I hope you treated him with kindness and with love.
Now there are beings in Heaven, who do have wings indeed,
made by God and live with Him, and unto Him they heed.
Who are these less known creatures we find in God’s great book,
with wings upon their back, you’ll find them if you look.
These beings, they have wings, the Bible tells us so,
but do angels have wings? I’m sure we’ll one day know.
A note about “Do Angels Have Wings”: The very first poem I wrote that was not in a child’s Bible. The Sunday School class was set to take a field trip to the Air and Space museum and this is the closest the Bible comes to the subject. The Bible mentions angels flying, but never says anything about them being winged. Written at work waiting for the rain to stop.
