The Great Smithy

Never give up, never give up; for God has a vision, God has a plan,
To turn girls into women, to turn a boy to a man.
In the darkest of dungeons, in the blackest of nights,
He puts a ray in our soul, perchance the faintest of lights.
Though our faith be but shaky, and meager at best,
It was given by God, on that you may rest.
When our whole world is shattered and the storm rages on,
The hope He instills will see His child to the dawn.
Sometimes we may wonder, will our trials ever end,
Does God really hate us, is He really our friend?
With our heartache and sadness, does He exist, can He be?
Why these chains hold my ankles, tell me, God, help me see?
The blacksmith he delivers his iron to the heat,
He molds to his liking and with his hammer does beat.
The stone mason takes his rock from the mountain,
In violence and great effort to build peaceful fountain.
A child it is born with great labor and pain,
But, oh, when it’s over what joy we do gain.
God has a plan, though sometimes we can’t see
Through the pain and the misery, what that plan may be.
Into the fire and hammered with blows,
God surely shapes us in His great mind He knows.
Though removed from the mine, a chunk of cheap coal,
He’s got a plan for a diamond, He’ll make of our soul,
The devil will tell you, “You can’t bear anymore.”
But God has a vision, and His vision is sure.
He promised no burden that we cannot bear,
The load that we carry, His Son helps us share.
Focus on Him the perfect, author of Faith,
Put your load upon Him and on Him your troubles do place.
For He Loves us and cares, He won’t let us down,
He will lift up our soul when we’re down on the ground.
No tree does bear its fruit overnight,
No battle is won without a great fight.
And God will turn weeping to sounds of great joy,
For by grace and great Love is His method of ploy.
So hold on to His promises they are written in stone,
And one day His great plan will surely be known.
I thank you, Sweet Jesus, for you’ve known all along,
What I will become, for in you I am strong.

Tertius

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him
who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

A note about “The Great Smithy”: Like it or not our troubles make us what God wants us to be. Growing pains. It’s hard to be thankful for such but we are instructed by God’s Word to do so. We must always keep in mind, “The Smith” Loves us and know what’s best.
