YESTERDAY SO FARAWAY, TODAY I PRAY I’M HERE TO STAY

Exiled to a lonely isle,
This lowly sinner had lost his smile.
No friends, no kin, no family,
Only deceptive creatures of insanity.
Far away from love and grace,
Though hordes surround what a lonely place.

Oh woe to find a crack,
In this wall I’ve made and to get back.
To the Love of God and His throne,
But for now I’m just cold and all alone.

A million miles from joy and peace,
Troubles, doubts and fear only will increase.
As I look within I cannot see,
My rotten core won’t set me free.
Doing time where ever I go,
Though the worlds around me, lonely’s all I know.

Oh no I need a break,
This hell on earth I can’t seem to shake.
I wish that I could find a home,
But for now my heart just wants to roam.

By bloody price a path is laid,
By Blood of Christ a bridge is made.
Across a chasm deep and wide,
In faith we cross to other side.
And leave behind this lonesome place,
To peace with God, His Love and grace.

Instantly we enter in,
By faith in Christ we’re born again.
We find our self within God’s hand,
But not in wrath, but in Love for man.
How far away I was before,
Now I‘m in the shelter of His open door.

Oh yes, I’m greatly blessed,
The Blood of Christ I now confess.
So far from God, my soul once was,
But now I am at home within His Love.
But now I am at home within His Love.

Tertius

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away
have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:13

A note about “Yesterday so Far Away”: After reading Ephesians 2:13 during my daily read I knew it was perfect for a Bible Study topic. The difference between our former life and new life in Christ, who we are inside and outside, what we think, what we speak, how we live and what we do should be as different as night and day, rainforest and desert, warm and cold. The more we reflect on the change He has bought, not just brought. (I Peter 1:18-19) with His Blood, the more profound our reaction to His action should be. If your change is minimal, or perhaps non-existent, you’d better take a look inside. (II Corinthians 13:5)
