I woke up yesterday morning feeling way down low,
This person I’d become I wasn’t sure that I did know.
But there’s a reason for my being,
Beyond what my mortal eyes are seeing.
And I have been made by the One who Loves me so.
The devil calls me worthless, but I know that is bunk,
Cause I am God’s own workmanship and He don’t make no junk.
When I look into my mirror, not always pleased by what I see,
A better soul for God’s Kingdom is what I want to be.
But God’s power lives deep inside,
And His great Light I can’t ever hide,
And the Blood of Jesus Christ is my only plea.

He knew me in my mother’s womb; He knows the day I’ll die;
He made me for His purpose, though He Loves me I don’t know why.
He’s making me a diamond, though now a lump of coal,
And by my faith in Jesus I’ll be a Blood washed shining soul.
So, do not let the devil’s song steal God’s precious grace,
Let the Holy Word of God put old Satan in his place.
For you are God’s own chosen one,
Bought by the Blood of His own Son.
Would a loser receive the promise to see His face?

A note about “The Master’s Masterpiece”: One of the inmates in Bible Study at the jail made the statement “I am special cause God don’t make no junk,” I told him that was fantastic and then asked him if he just made that up. He told me no, it was written on something he had at home. I told him I would write a poem about that for sure. I guess I shouldn’t have said that because I wait on God to give to me on His time. However, He not only gave me the poem, but a beautiful tune to boot. We are God’s workmanship in spite of all our interference!
