Jesus gave them something hard to swallow,
Drink My Blood if Me you’d want to follow.
Drink My Blood, eat My Flesh,
If you want Me to truly bless.
My Body gives eternal life,
To all who feed on living Christ.
Sweet Bread came down from Heaven,
Sweet Bread there’s found no leaven,
Within the Blood is found the life,
Life eternal with Jesus Christ,
Manna from above in purest Love.
Don’t drink blood the law was very clear,
And Jesus words caused their hearts to fear.
Should we do what Moses said not?
Perhaps Old Moses Christ has forgot.
These words are strange coming from this Man,
We haven’t a clue and do not understand.

Nearly every food that God does give,
Something has to die for us to live.
Nature’s own prophecy before the death of Jesus Christ,
And now a reminder of how Sweet Blood gives us life.
No one then had the slightest clue,
What His death for you and me would do.
Free our souls and give us life,
Life that’s found in the Blood of Christ.
His Body gave in greatest Love,
Manna come down from Heaven above.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying,
“Take and eat; this is my body.”

A note about “Manna of the New Covenant”: In John 6:51-66, Jesus gave the discourse about drinking His Blood and eating His Flesh. We have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight regarding His death to know exactly what He meant. We also have the Holy Spirit who gives us wisdom. These people had neither. It’s not surprising that many of these people that listened to Him that day stopped following Him. What is surprising is that most of the world has heard the Good News of why Jesus died and refuse this Bread from heaven even though it is given freely, is most satisfying and is given at great cost by the sublime Love of God. I shudder in horror for those who invoke God’s wrath by refusing His offer.
