BABYLON

Babylon, oh Babylon, where every man’s a king,
Your riches and your wickedness of thee I do sing.

In God we trust the slogan written on your cash,
But we treat money like our god, and God if He were trash.

The whole world looks in envy at our culture steeped in sin,
They think that wealth and power belong to the devil’s friend.
Sex and violence, drugs and booze, they’re this nation great desire,
But it burns up our last morals like a hungry spreading fire.

Bad is good and good is bad, our compass it is broken,
The prophets go unheeded even though God’s Word they’ve spoken.

Built on religious freedom though slavery we did bring,
You can’t drink fresh water from a salty spring.
We are the world’s protector though we don’t have peace at home,
There’s death upon the city streets, this is our own war zone.

Don’t hurt the little animals; they are God’s creatures too!
But kill that unborn baby; we must do what we must do.

How must this look to God in heaven who looks down from above,
Can He find faith on earth, the slightest trace of love?

Will He judge us for our crimes or perhaps that He has changed?
Maybe He will let it slide, because we’re all deranged.
The Bible says that a man will reap what he does sow,
And nations aren’t excluded from this rule that we all know.

Judgments coming soon, my friend, to every nation and every man,
Better get your butt in gear and your head out of the sand.

Babylon, oh Babylon, your enemy’s at your gates,
And all your strength and power won’t save you, for your punishment awaits.
Turn from your evil and turn toward God, the only hope you own,
But I do fear your end is near, for you’re corrupt right to the bone.

Jesus, He stands waiting with patient open hands,
But He is coming back again with sword and battle plan.
Best get on His good side, you have no time to wait,
For when Babylon has fallen, it just might be too late!

Tertius

‘Woe! Woe to you, great city, you mighty city of Babylon!
In one hour your doom has come!’
Revelation 18:10
