A CHILD’S DESIRE

How much joy a little child brings to their parents proud and true,
They burst with pride at every good thing that their little hearts’ aspire to do.
Pictures on the ice box door, their gallery of art,
Hugs and kisses they give galore, they warm the coldest heart.
When they give a special gift they’ve made with their own hands,
It’s found to be nothing less than something great and grand.
Little children seek to please their folks; they love so very much,
And when they do their folks receive a special loving touch.
Worth more than gold their hearts delight,
Few things ever feel more right.
A child’s sweet love shines from within,
It’s never faked they don’t pretend.
Jesus brought great joy and pleasure to His Father up above,
He honored every word from God, His motivation Love.
He sinned not once this Holy Man from His day of birth,
The precious Son of God Himself not contaminated by the earth.
He Loved His Father much greater than His frame of flesh,
And His Love and greatest faithfulness passed the final test.
Holy Jesus sought to please His Father He Loved so much,
And when He did the whole world received joy from His Loving touch.
Worth more than gold my heart’s delight,
Not one thing in life has been more right.
Christ’s sweet love shined from within,
By His cross we know it has no end.
Now I’m adopted as God’s son by the precious blood of Christ;
My future once was certain death, now by Him its endless life.
Sweet Jesus is my Savior; His Father is mine too,
My love for Him I demonstrate in everything I do.
Love for Him is love for others we serve both with our hearts,
And by His purest Love for us is where our weak love starts.
My every fiber seeks to please my God I love so much,
My only goal in this short life is His heart of Love to touch.
Worth more than gold my heart’s delight,
Nothing has ever been more right.
My Father’s light shines within,
It saved my soul, it made me kin.

Tertius

I once was an out-cast stranger on earth,
a sinner by choice, and an alien by birth.
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down.
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown.
I’m a child of the King. A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior, I’m a child of the King.

(Harriet F. Buell)

A note about “A Child’s Desire”: A child’s love is pure and untainted by the world. There are no hidden motives for self-gain. With this in mind we have a better understanding of what Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14) As adopted children He deserves no less from us. Through faith we have an intimate relationship with our heavenly Father and the closer the bond, the better we know Him. To know Him is to love Him. To know Him better is to love Him more.
