The Voice

I heard a Voice call out my name,
It was quite familiar; it was not strange.
A gentle whisper as I’ve ever heard,
As I listened careful, my heart was stirred.
The Voice it spoke of Love and grace,
But the Voice it put me in my place.
It revealed my faults, revealed my sin,
But offered forgiveness as would a friend.
It told all truth, not a single lie,
I trusted it, not asking why.
The Voice, He said He Loved me, beyond what I’d imagine,
He’s built a bridge from Him to me, across the greatest chasm.
I understood this bridge of wood did cause Him greatest pain,
And I’m the one why this was done; I hang my head in shame.
But the Voice He said, “Don’t hang your head, my Love removes all guilt,
And on my grace and mercy, my Kingdom it is built.”
I heard my own voice answer back, “Thank you, oh so much,”
For by His death, He gave me life and healed me with His touch.
You also must heed carefully as I did just the same,
For the Voice is Christ, the Word of God, Salvation is His Name.

Tertius

When all the sheep have been gathered,
He walks on ahead of them;
and they follow Him because they know His voice.

John 10:4

A note about “The Voice”: Written in a Christmas gift Bible for my wife in 2014. What translation? The Voice of course!
