Perserverance

Life’s storms rage on in darkest hour,
Our sails are torn, we’ve lost all power.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

When all seems lost, with nothing to gain,
At such great cost, we’ve only pain.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

Now don’t blame Satan for your trials,
You’ll end up hatin’, all the while.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

God guides us through the fiery pit,
His path is true, though it seems not it.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

Now He knows best, what we all need,
Whether we rest, or at full speed.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

The hand that leads us, into the fire,
Saves us by trust, in His desire.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

His purpose a mystery, His plans don’t show,
But what’s now will be history and then we’ll know.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

So don’t complain, and do not gripe,
For days of rain and pain filled nights.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

So don’t give up and don’t give in,
Keep that empty cup, He’ll fill it again.
Keep the faith, seek God’s face,
His hand has put you in this place.

Now one day when our troubles are through,
And earth’s journey ends and heaven is new.
We’ve kept the faith, we’ll see God’s face,
And our hand remains in His Hand, we’ve won the race.

Tertius

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,
let us throw off everything that hinders
and the sin that so easily entangles.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Hebrews 12:1

Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.
Psalm 105:4

A note about “Perseverance”: The lines that keep repeating are so simple, yet so hard to accept in the face of difficulty. Trials define and refine us, but it’s our human nature that makes us want to rebel against them. We don’t have to like them, but they should strengthen rather than weaken our faith.
