Midnight Caller

Lord Jesus, hear me please, I’m down on bended knee,
I’m knocking on the door, of our Father’s Holy store,
My friends they need some bread, and by your hands we’re fed,
The hour it is late and I’m so fearful for their fate.
Oh Jesus, this I pray, every night, every day.

Lord Jesus, hear me call, I’m up against the wall,
I gave my friends your bread, but they said that they’ve been fed.
They shared the devil’s meal, to them it did appeal,
But little did they know of the poison in the dough.
Oh Jesus, how I pray, every night and every day.

Lord Jesus, how I cry, as to you I do draw nigh,
Please give them the desire, with your Holy Spirit’s Fire,
For your mercy and your grace, have them want to seek your face,
And walk upon your road and follow your sweet code.
Oh Jesus, I do pray, every night, every day.

Lord Jesus, I request, till it’s done I cannot rest,
Those bound by their sin, need you for a friend,
They have no idea, of how they should fear,
If only they would see, how you make all men free.
Oh Jesus, now I pray, every night, every day.

Lord Jesus, how I plead, for those in greatest need,
They do not have a clue, of what only you can do,
For you can cleanse all sin, for broken hearts within,
And give real peace of mind, the kind all seek to find.
Oh Jesus, to thee I pray, every night and every day.

Lord Jesus, I now knock, you’re my Savior and my Rock,
And just as you have said, you’re my life and you’re my bread.
The time is now at hand, for me to feed my fellow man,
Of the very Bread of Life, the Holy Word, the Christ.
Oh Jesus, this I pray, every night, every day.

Tertius

I tell you, even though he will not get up
and give you the bread because of friendship,
yet because of your persistence he will surely get up
and give you as much as you need.
Luke 11:8

A note about “Midnight Caller”: I am sometimes perplexed about how our prayers can affect the unsaved when their freedom of choice is involved. Reading this parable gave me great comfort and a more dogged determination.
