Go Towards the Light

The grand and mighty oak reaches skyward,
its branches straining for light, grasping for grace.
The vast and endless ocean, rolling on the accord
of the moon’s silent tug, brightly lit, or just a trace.
The world’s largest ships, steered by just a beacon,
a single blade of light, to pierce the night,
and keep them safe and sound.
The rays of the sun, wake the earth, in silence, without speaking,
raising heads of flowers, opening eyes of men,
warming up the ground.
Tiny fishes, fluttering moths, all converge unto the light,
both great and small, on this blue ball, they seek what’s above.
But man in his pride resists God’s Light, with all he has,
with all his might,
his sin within, his heart so dark, he turns from God’s great Love.
Everything that God has made, responds to brilliant glory,
but men they spurn the Source of life, believing the deceiver.
That they are king, and have no need, for God’s shining story,
the Gospel of Jesus, Light of the world, the sanctified Retriever
of men’s souls, that lives in cold and darkness of their choosing,
no one has light, within themselves, all people do cast shade.
They look here, they look there, philosophies and musings,
but to seek the Light, with all one’s might,
the darkness surely fades.
Go toward the Light, Heaven’s delight all creation points there,
for God’s great Love came from above, a Light for all to see.
It cost Him dearly, His One and Only,
His greatest Love He shares,
the brightest Light, the most glorious sight,
beheld in faith is free.

Tertius

My Prayer
If God’s Love can be compared to the Sun,
I pray that my life may be compared to the moon,
a mere reflection of the pure and Holy Light.
Joel Emerson

A note about “Go Towards the Light”: If you had to describe God and His Love with one word it would have to be light. Even a blind man can feel its warmth.
