THE HOUSE THE LORD BUILT (PART TWO)

Joel's HouseYou gave me the house I built with my hands,
And deep in my mind, You gave me the plans.
You gave me resolve with Your bow in the sky,
You gave me the want to, You gave me the try.
You gave me the knowledge that came from my dad,
Every memory of him makes me happy, not sad.
People think that it’s mine, but I know it is Yours,
You gave me friend Mark who crafted the doors.
You gave me the plumber, who I gave some brick,
Bro Dan’s made his stand with me through thin and through thick.
You gave me a helper, the hard working Kris,
When he cleaned those bricks, no place he would miss.
You gave me good friends, good Mike and Jim,
The cabinets they made were an absolute ten.
You gave me friends Bo and his bro Double D,
You are the only One who can do any more with a tree.
You gave me a son, Noah, who worked on this ark,
He’s a beautiful light in a world that’s so dark.
Another Mark made my mirrors so shiny,
Tall and wide they were big and not tiny.
You gave me a friend, a go-getter name Treavor,
That boy he can do whatever he endeavors.
Old Jim’s heart of gold he came with paint brush,
His work’s perfect like yours, he don’t get in a rush.
You gave me the pleasure of Tuck and his crew,
When it comes to high voltage they know what to do.
You gave me a nef, Jeremy’s his name,
The shooting of concrete was his claim to fame.
You gave me a wife, who keeps the ship clean,
Though I make a mess, she gives it a sheen.
Before I am through, thanks again for my Pop,
Who helped each day till the cancer him stopped.
He might be in heaven helping You build me a home,
Where together we’ll all live, no more shall I roam.
People they tell me, I’ve a wonderful place,
But I know it’s all yours, you’ve loaned it to me in grace.

Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers
to make everything I have commanded you:
Exodus 31:6

A note about “The House The Lord Built (Part One and Two)”: During waking hours at my house there’s usually something going on where the house itself is merely a background. But during the night when I get up to meet John it’s quiet and dim, not totally dark and the house itself seems to whisper of God’s grace. As all of nature speaks of the handiwork of our Creator and so does this building. Though it was (in a way) my design and I did a great deal of the labor myself I feel every aspect of the project was a gift from God. Many times a rhyme is inspired by a scripture I have just read. But the scriptures that would pertain to this came this morning after I wrote one of these parts (which was actually the second one I wrote) which was about Moses bringing the water from the rock. I knew this as the reason Moses was not allowed to enter the Promise Land, but my reading in Exodus 17 proved no misdeed by Moses. Doing some research took me to Numbers 20 when I discovered Moses’ sin. Verse 10,”Hear now ye rebels must we fetch you water out of this rock?” I assume “we” referred to Moses and Aaron as if this miracle was from their own power. We must be careful to ascribe to God whatever credit that is due Him and if we perchance have any coming let Him ascribe it to us in His time, in His way. Luke 14:11
