LOOK

I look up to the heavens; I look up to the sky,
And ask the age-old question, “God please tell me why
Would the Maker of all there is beyond what mind can comprehend,
That stretches out forever a cosmos without end;
Would look down on this tiny speck,
With grace and mercy and not reject?”
We’re little worms that squirm beneath the sun.
He knows every hair upon our head, every single solitary one.
I look into my nasty soul a cesspool, rank and dark,
And wonder why an awesome God would Love to me impart.
Stronger that a billon suns that burn across the sky,
But tender as a floating silk winged butterfly;
He looks upon my tepid soul,
And warms it from its frigid cold.
My Creator, my Savior, my Best Friend,
He Loved me fore He made the stars and His Love for me will surely never end.
Never end, His Love will never end.
He knows the name of every star,
My every pain, my every scar.
He reaches past the reason of my mind,
Through the endless span of space and ceaseless time.
You will find, look and you will find.
I look into the Bible, the story of His Son,
And wonder why He came down here to do the things He’s done.
The Maker of all there is, tortured beyond belief,
Just to free this sinner’s soul, to give such sweet relief.
I peer into the Heart of God,
Who gave His Son for this piece of sod.
And the Beauty does sure surpass to what He’s made,
As we look up to our awesome God, His power, glory and love will never fade.
Never fade, look what God’s Love has made.
He knows the name of every star,
My every pain, my every scar.
He reaches past the reason of my mind,
Through the endless span of space and ceaseless time.
You will find, look and you will find.
It could be that you don’t, it just might be you won’t,
Change your views and see that you are blind.

Tertius

Look to the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
Psalm 105:4

A note about “LOOK”: A customer I was working for gave me a DVD titled, “Indescribable.” It was about a man (Louie Giglio) who was giving a lecture (sermon) about the awesome universe (and beyond) and how it proves how awesome, powerful and almighty our Almighty God is. As soon as I put the movie in I picked up my guitar just to “doodle.” In other words, just to play something without playing anything. Immediately I started playing a chord progression using some chords I’d never used before and real soon a melody emerged. When God gives me songs it usually starts with a poem and then the music. After watching the movie, the words quickly came from the content of the film. Just when you think you have things figured out, God comes with another surprise blessing out of left field!
