SEND THANKS OR PRAISE

SEND THANKS OR PRAISE

Stop lights, I hate them, I hate every single one,
I’m a roller, a mover; I’m always on the run.
Sometimes it seems I spend a week of every single year,
Sitting at a stop light, just a-wishing I won’t here.
When the light in its sweet time turns to grassy green,
The pokey driver ahead of me turns my thoughts obscene.
I’m always in a hurry; I’ve got no time for slow,
In the rat race I’m a runner and this rat has got to go.
But Jesus says, “Martha, Martha, you’re worried way too much,
Sit down at my feet a spell, hear my word and feel my touch.”
A stoplight’s a reminder of the time we need to pray,
A time to send thanks or praise up to heaven’s way.
It only takes a second to send a loving thought.
And everyone we send above by God is surely caught.
But we will never think of Him while racing to and fro,
That’s why He wants to slow us down for His joy and Love to know.
So do not be impatient when life’s troubles get in your way,
Seize the moment if only seconds and thank Him as you pray.
For Jesus is your Travel Guide upon life’s weary road,
And sometimes we need to look at Him to find rest from our load.
Stop lights, I love them, I love every single one,
They give me quick reminder of God’s most awesome Son.
For when I am a-running round like chicken with no head,
I’ll send thanks or praise above, like when I kneel upon my bed.
And God He will get glory and I’ll soon move along,
And when the pedal goes to the metal, my heart will sing a song.
Thank You Lord for time outs, Amazing Grace in microbursts,
Sometimes the time we’re sitting is the best and not the worst!

Tertius

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 46:10

A note about “Send Thanks or Praise”: I’m a brick mason and often times I get paid by the brick. More brick in the wall at the end of the day equals more money. When I’m working by the hour, the more I get done the quickest saves my customer money. See golden rule Matthew 1:12. But sometimes this mindset overflows into other areas in my life that I should slow down. Not only that, but God uses many different ways to slow us down to take time to consider Him. We can fight it or enjoy it. We are not predisposed to one or the other. It is a choice before us that with practice can become a habit. I need some more practice!
