SONG INSIDE MY SOUL

Oh, my Lord, my God, You’ve put a song inside my soul,
Its beauty is eternal and from within me rolls,
From my fingertips, from my tongue let glory shine,
For I am Yours and You are mine.
What an awesome gift for You to give to me,
The dance of sound in me is found priceless and yet free.
It resides within my head and in my heart,
And flows through my veins to my every part.
Like a fire burning deep within my bones,
I must share it with others I cannot sing alone.
For I must give as You have gave to me,
May Your Love shine so brilliantly.
When my feeble lips are one day silenced by the time,
I will then rise above and forever I will shine.
And I’ll sing Your praise with all who love Your Name,
Your glory and Love we’ll all proclaim.

Tertius

But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker,
who gives songs in the night.

Job 35:10

Hybrid to the tune “Sylvia” by the group Focus

A note about “Song Inside My Soul”: A poem I wrote inside a Bible for a musician friend who taught me a great deal and encouraged me in such a positive way. Sometimes people compliment my brickwork and I think to myself, that they wouldn’t know good work from bad. But when this longtime guitarist, singer, songwriter told me he liked what he heard I was moved to step out of that self-imposed boundary I was trapped in. He polished a rough stone into a still evolving gem. God could not have sent a better musical mentor into my life. Thank you, Jesus, and thank you Danny!
