SONSHINE OF MY SOUL

No more heavy chains of sin upon my feet,
I’ve left the dungeon of death and hell this fresh air is so sweet.
I’m steppin’ out to freedom given by the Christ,
Oh, my soul, I’m out the hole, with a brand-new life.

Jesus sweet Jesus, Sonshine of my soul,
With Him I’d crawl on broken glass than walk on streets of gold.
Jesus sweet Jesus, Sonshine of my soul,
With Him I’d crawl on broken glass than walk on streets of gold.

Nor more lonely nights, friends and kin so far away,
For my Father, He is with me, every night and day,
I’m trading all my troubles for a future of great hope,
For Christ has cleansed me to my core with His blood and not with soap.

Jesus sweet Jesus, Sonshine of my heart,
The days are getting better when each day with Him I start.
Jesus sweet Jesus, Sonshine of my heart,
The days are getting better when each day with Him I start.

Jesus is my Sonlight on cloudy stormy days,
He’s brightly lit my pathway and changed my course and ways.
He’s rose above the dark cloud with the beauty of the dawn,
Now my troubles seem so slight and the fear of them is gone.

No more resentful thoughts of why I’m where I’m at,
For God knows why He put me here, it’s time to face the facts,
I’m learning how to live life according to His will.
This trait we are not born with, we must acquire this skill.

Jesus sweet Jesus Sonshine of my life,
The devil held my soul, but Jesus paid the ransom price.
Jesus sweet Jesus Sonshine of my life,
The devil held my soul, but Jesus paid the ransom price.

Tertius

His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
Revelation 1:16

A note about, “Sonshine of my Soul”: Written for all those incarcerated behind bars. Some may understand it, and some may not have a great desire to. Some may think it rubbish but that does not change the fact for me. Ironic that the same week this was written I spent three days working in 90 degree plus temps under a brutal sun. The mockingbird singing in the yard where I was working could not possibly keep up with this song of praise in my heart. Revelation 7:16-17
