Mind Over Matter

Set your mind on things above,
Things of God and His great Love.
Think on celestial heights, my friend,
Above the chains of earth and sin.
All the world is surely blind
To what will soon surpass mere time.
Worldly wealth will rust and rot,
We can’t take with us what we think we’ve got.
For God owns all, He gives and takes.
What we trust to Him, He’ll surely make,
Gold from garbage, our feeble deeds,
He fills our souls, He fills our needs.
If we lift our eyes above this mire and mud,
By the power and grace of Jesus’ blood.
We imagine God’s Kingdom as solid as stone,
And hail the Lamb upon His great throne.
No greater sight can we behold,
No greater joy shall fill our soul.
As sin and sadness encircle the earth,
We rise above by our new birth.
The dungeon down here is dark and dank,
When we look to the Light we surely must thank
Christ for the hope of His higher plane,
And see beyond this world of pain.
The pain’s but fleeting and so Satan’s charms,
But eternal peace is within our Savior’s arms.
The higher thoughts shine like a light,
They make one wise, and give them sight.
So put your mind on all God’s ways,
Each precious hour of each precious day.
And study His word with all your might,
And pray Christ may give you spiritual sight.
Of His glory in heaven and His Salvation plan,
God’s own Son, human, Savior of man.

Tertius

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Colossians 3:2

A note about “Mind over Matter”: “I know for sure that what we dwell on is who we become,” I cut that out of the Readers Digest and keep it in my Bible. Guess who said that? Oprah Winfrey!
