God’s Yard Sale

This email was sent as an invitation to attend a meeting at Joel’s home. Although the meeting has come and gone, the content of the email may be of interest to readers.

At last month’s meeting some friends of mine had a yard sale across the street just prior to our study. I noticed quite a few people stopping and looking at someone else’s cast-offs. But surprisingly enough, few people had much interest in a “letter from God.” So considering this I am wondering how many people would be interested in browsing at “God’s yard sale?” think about it, there would be no hand-me-downs, for God has declared, “In all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” Romans 8:28. The very best thing on the “table” is absolutely free. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9; and the things that do cost us can be viewed in light of this quote by Jim Elliot (missionary and martyr) “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” I think most people when stopping at a yard sale are not looking for anything in particular; but in general, something they can use, and you may rest assured that whatever God has on “the table” is absolutely beneficial to the here and now as well as the future hereafter. Come and see what God offers to those who love Him. Everything comes with a guarantee. Bet you won’t find that at any garbage, uh-oh, I mean garage sale! Come and join us at our next meeting.
