Fortuneteller

While peeking through the “door” one day, what did my eyes behold,
a place where all our youth’s restored, where no one shall get old.
Look it’s daddy Herbert and his mother Mammy dear,
they look so young and perfect, his once blind eye is clear.
Oh Daddy, how I’ve missed you, your laughter and your touch,
to see you there I gaze and stare, I love you, oh so much.
Love and peace we breathe right in, like flowers fragrant scent,
who could have known, till they were shown,
the beauty of where I went.
Music pulses to my core, no sound like it on earth,
nothing like it have I heard, from since my day of birth.
The volume of the colors there turned up to way past ten,
a brightness and a shining, my mind can’t comprehend.
No sun, no moon, no stars to light this grand and awesome place.
it gets its light from my delight, my Savior’s glorious face.
His hands held out, He beckons all, to join Him in our joy,
to every man, to every woman, to every girl and boy.
He’s paid what’s due to get us through, to where the Father rules,
to spurn His gift, I must insist, there is a place for fools.
Where fire rages night and day, and noise and torment too,
I wouldn’t dare to make this up, my Jesus told me true.
So seek the Savior’s favor, while time is still at hand,
His bloodied cross, removes our dross, this was God’s greatest plan.
Now angels came and told me, that my glimpse of heaven was done,
to my dismay, I could not stay, and I’d returned to where I’d come.
These memories of the Promised Land are etched inside my brain,
this place of peace, joy, and love, where Christ as King will reign.

Tertius

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love Him.
1 Corinthians 2:9

A note about “Fortuneteller”: This was written after hearing a friend’s story of a near death experience. I think somebody needs to change that term. From all reports, “it” makes life here on earth sound a little weak at best!
