If (smallest of words, largest of possibilities)

If the great sublime Love of God does not make you smile,
You’ve missed your life’s calling by many a lonely mile.
If the pain that you have caused Him does not make you weep,
Then wake up your soul, my friend, it’s either dead or asleep.
If you find not thanks to give Him from deep within your heart,
Then how much must He give to you for gratitude to start?
If you can’t see the Artist’s hand in nature’s beauty and glory,
You must be blind by Satan’s shine his bogus lies and stories.
If you can’t hear His praise in mocking bird’s sweet song,
You’d better get your ears checked, friend, there’s something surely wrong.
If you would glimpse His majesty then look to nighttime sky,
Behold His awesome tenderness revealed in newborn’s cry.
If you would learn of His mercy and grace my story I can tell,
Although the worst of sinners He saved my soul from hell.
If you determine to seek Him with heart and open mind,
By faith He will draw near to you and peace and joy you’ll find.
If you desire to aspire higher when this troubled world we leave,
Then put your trust in Jesus’ blood, His salvation please receive.
If you would think me crazy I will not mind at all,
I’ve no regard for opinions, I heed the Master’s call.
If you think that your good deeds are your saving grace,
They’re filthy rags in His sight; our grace is found in faith.
If merely faith can save us are we then free to sin?
Would you cause pain unto our Christ who died for souls to win?
If you prefer to go to hell cause all your friends are there,
You’ve listened to the devil’s lies for hell is all you’ll share.
If you had a choice between heaven’s glory or the darkest hell,
Would you choose the fleeting pleasures that Satan tries to sell?
If someone came back from God’s home it’s glory they revealed,
Would you hide your head in sand, the truth would be concealed.
“If,” it has no place in the promises that God He gives,
For His word is just as sure as His Son that surely lives.
If I could only praise Him enough my song would never cease,
To know Him is to love Him and our peace and joy increase.
If you would come and take His yoke His burden it is light,
And trust and faith will replace our worldly view and sight.
If I could only help you see the depth of His great Love,
You’d see this world for what it is, for “if “is not a word above.
Tertius

On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice,
“If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink.”
John 7:37

A note about “If (smallest of words, largest of possibilities)”: The whole world teeters on this word, and even more than that, our eternal future does also. Amazing how one simple word can sum up man’s free will. All of creation from the movements of the heavens to the march of ants is under direct supervision of the Creator, Sustainer God with the exception of human beings. If a lion moves too slow he will go hungry, but at the same time the word “if” could be considered irrelevant because God decides who is slow and who is fast. But if a person spiritually starves because he does not seek God, but turns his back on him, then that “if” belongs to him. According to 1 John 3:2 (Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.) could the word (if) become obsolete?
If you think about it…..
