Sister Lena

Lord hear me please, I’m down on my knees for a friend who is in great despair.
Her soul’s in pain, her tears fall as rain and her burden I also do share.
I’ve tried to heal the pain she feels, but my words they just aren’t enough,
Such a tender girl, such a mean old world, sometimes life is just so tough.
I wish that she would turn to thee; your hand can calm the storm,
And when the cold invades one’s soul, your Love is bright and warm.
If she could see what you’ve done for me, she’d run to you I know,
And you could mend her heart within and ease her toil and woe.
But Satan’s desire is to burn her with fire and put the blame on you,
But what you allow, the when, the how, your wisdom’s always true.
Oh that she’d look unto your Book, its pages heal so deep,
But demons want to tempt and taunt and would her soul to keep.
Her pain she hides so deep inside, but you feel as it’s your own,
If she only knew what you can do, she’d feel not so alone.
When she was young the death angel stung her heart with tragedy,
But you can heal this pain she feels, oh Lord, this is my plea.
Of joy you’re the Giver, sweet peace like a river, all there just for the asking,
If she had a clue of just who are you, in your Love she would be basking.
Oh how I pray, for that wonderful day, when all my children turn
Their hearts to you, the One who’s true, and of your ways will learn.
Now what a waste that we should face these burdens all alone,
When you bid us come with all, not some, our troubles to your throne.
This beautiful child, with angel’s smile, you’ve put into my life,
You know I pray both night and day that her hope she’ll find in Christ.
And that your peace will never cease and you’ll abide within her heart,
And you will give her joy to live, may she fan to flame your Spark.
I’d give the world for this little girl to know your awesome Love,
Please blind her eyes to Satan’s lies, fix her gaze on Christ above.
And death’s awful sting will no longer bring a tear upon her cheek,
So grant my plea I bring to thee, your mercy I do seek.
My God and Savior, how awesome your favor to hear me when I pray,
As I wait on your grace and pray in faith Sis Lena’s night turns to day.

Tertius

Those who sow with tear will reap with songs of joy.
Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
Psalm 126:5-6

A note about “Sister Lena”: Written for a friend who had lost her dad to a car accident several years before. I think she was about 8 when it happened. My dad was not only my best friend, but such a huge influence for good in my life and also the fact that he impacted my life for more than fifty years, makes for a soft spot in my heart for this girl who at time of writing is thirteen. She seems to continue to suffer in the wake of his death. I’ve tried to show both my own love and God’s great Love to her to give her something to hold on to but, presently all I can do is continue to pray for her. If you are reading this please say a prayer for her.
